1. What are REPAS+ and KOMPAS+?
REPAS/REPAS+ (short for REqualification, Opportunity and Cooperation) is a program of the Slovak Employment Service (ÚPSVaR) to support the education of job seekers. It is a program of retraining courses.
KOMPAS+ (abbreviation for Competence, Opportunity and Cooperation) is a program of competency courses of the ÚPSVaR. These competency courses may not be accredited. |
2. Who pays for retraining courses?
Retraining courses through REPAS and KOMPAS are fully reimbursed by the Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family (ÚPSVaR). |
3. To what extent does the ÚPSVaR approve retraining courses?
The Labor Office reimburses 100% of the costs of the course package you choose. The amount that can be obtained according to our experience with RE-PAS+ and KOMPAS+ is up to 450 – 1000 EUR including VAT. Certification exams are not reimbursed. Hourly rates (maximum price limits of 5.44 EUR) are defined for courses according to person-hours and type of course. |
4. Is it possible to reimburse 2 REPAS courses?
It is also possible to complete 2 REPAS courses if the next course builds on the course already completed and/or increases qualifications in the field. |
5.How long do I have to be registered with ÚPSVAR if I want to receive a retraining course?
The duration of the registration should ideally be at least 3 months. It is ideal to inquire in person directly at the relevant Labor Office. Some offices have even been able to do so for less than 3 months. |
6. Where can I get a form for retraining through REPAS / KOMPAS?
You can find sample forms directly on this subpage in the Forms section or from the . Labor Office page |
7. Can I get a retraining course even if I am employed?
The REPAS+ and KOMPAS programs are intended only for the unemployed and those registered with the Labor Office. The National Project Don’t Lose Your Job – Get Educated is intended for the employed. An applicant for a course registers as an Employment Applicant (ZoZ) at any PSVR office (ZoZ application for mediation of a suitable job) at the Citizen Services Department. This is the basis. Since the target group is ZoZ, anyone who is registered as ZoZ and is interested in education that takes into account their individual needs, possibilities and abilities with regard to the necessary skills in the area of shortage professions, digitalization and automation or green economy can participate in this project. It does not take into account their other status, whether they are employed, self-employed, on maternity/parental leave or voluntarily unemployed, etc. – A ZoZ can be anyone who is not registered as a UoZ (job seeker = registered as unemployed). This means that for this project it is crucial that the applicant meets the condition of an eligible target group and is interested in education that is aimed at expanding, increasing or changing skills in the area of shortage professions, digitalization and automation or the green economy. |
8. Is it possible to reimburse the course for people working under the Agreement or am I an external student?
This is possible as long as the person is still registered in the job seeker register. Part-time university students do not have this option. |
9. What should I do if I had a business and want courses through REPAS and KOMPAS?
In this case, a confirmation of the termination of the trade is required. If the trade is current, it is not possible to apply for RE-PAS+/KOMPAS+. It is ideal to use the program for employees, the National Project “Don’t Lose Your Job – Get Educated”. |
10. I can’t decide on a specific course/package, what do you recommend?
We will give you access to all our online accredited courses. Programming and testing courses are very popular. Courses for analysts, IT and project managers, and automation engineers are also in high demand. |
11. Will I be reimbursed for the course, even if I get a job during its duration?
If you happen to get a great job during your retraining, that’s okay. The Labor Office will accept this fact and only reimburse you for the completed part. |
12.Will I be reimbursed for the course if I fall ill/cannot attend during the course?
If you take a course through the REPAS program and do not complete the course in full for reasons other than serious ones, the labor office will only reimburse you for the days you have completed. The labor office will decide whether your reasons are serious enough that you cannot continue taking the course and will proceed accordingly (i.e., decide whether you will be reimbursed for the course or not). |
13. How long does the retraining course/package last?
The duration of the retraining course depends on which package you choose or order. It can last from 5 to 20 days. |
